Born in Houston, Texas and raised all over living the life of an Army Brat. I Went to 8 different schools (3 elementary, 1 middle school, 4 high schools) and have 1 little brother who’s not so little anymore. I’ve been married for over ten years now to a woman who rocks my world and I have the greatest ten year old boy anyone could ask for. The rest of my family is adopted. Sally is a big black lab and Bree a red mix of Chow and lab I’m told. Our latest adopted family member is a french bulldog aptly named Stitch for his appearance and personal hygiene habits. The cat that lurks in the office isn’t mine and I make no claims to his ass.

Owlcon Rocked!!!

owlcon2007_10Last weekend was pretty damn hectic. Marcel and I packed up our dice and went to Owlcon 2007 with Micah. As a really nice surprise I got to finally meet the man behind the pyramid, Steve Jackson. Does anyone else see a strange resemblance between him and Stephen King??? He signed my much loved copy of GURPS Basic - 3rd edition of course.
Anyway, we had a great time. It was really great to know that Marcel enjoys playing games as much as I do and that we could share the excitement and fun together. It helps that he's an awesome team player and we whooped down some serious game. I didn't get to do any RPG's (thats Roleplaying Games for you non geeks out there) but I don't think Marcel's quite ready to make that leap so we stuck to tabletops, card and board games. I can't express how cool it felt to have him by my side at a gaming table playing as team. Man, talk about a daddy moment. Oh, here's another one - Marcel boxed Steve Jackson on the Wii. :)
We came away from the weekend exhausted and exhilarated. I haven't felt this hyped up about gaming in long while. I'm ready to jump on the GM saddle again and do some some serious gaming. I found a few great gems at Owlcon this year to top it all off.
Lana joked about how I manafested them...
I recently watched Grandma's Boy for the first time. Yeah, I know it's been out for a while but it didn't look very good from the previews. Being completely bored I watched it in the early morning hours and again with Lana the next day just a few days before Owlcon weekend. I absolutely love that fuckin movie. Well, there's a few scenes in the movie where one of the guys is wearing a T-shirt that says, "Choose your weapon" with all the major dice lined up below (four-sider, six-sider, eight-sider, ten-sider, twelve-sider, and the mighty 20-sider.) When I saw that I said I had to have one if I ever saw it.
I'm now the proud owner of what is one of the geekiest shirts I've seen but fuck it.
The other gem was a complete set of D20 Gamma World!!! On the way out to Owlcon Micah and me talked about old RPG's and I mentioned how I would love to get my hands on an old game TSR put out, Gamma World. So you can imagine how awesome it was to find it in a bargain bin at a dealer's booth. I was a little disappointed to read that they took out the mutated plants race. So like a lot of things eventual, I've decided to give D20 system a chance. I'm stubborn about change but if it's good I'm sure it'll grow on me. It still won't be as good as GURPS though.
Well, I've rambled on enough I guess. Plus Marcel needs a little help making out his Valentine's cards for his party at school tomorrow.
